Research

My research has been going well overall. I chose a topic that gives me a good amount of sources to find and information. There is one key issue that has been bothering me a little bit. I would like to slightly alter my topic, but I am not sure how with all the work I have done. The work that I have done to support my thesis now would become almost like background information.

The easiest thing for me so far was to find sources. The hardest thing was evaluating sources on the annotated bibliography. Sometimes sources did not provide an author, which made it very difficult. I have overall not had a horrible experience so far, but not great either. That is something that can be said about most projects though.

    I agree, the evaluation part was the hardest part of the annotation. Great post, I like the use of vivid details.

Reading Response to The Firm

I have covered a lot of new information in The Firm.  Mitch has started working and works 100 hour weeks! He has passed the bar exam with the highest score. He seems to be doing extremely well at the firm, but then something strange happens. While he is eating lunch by himself, an FBI agent approaches him and tells him some veery strange stuff about the firm. He reports this to Lamar Quin and Lamar reports it to the higher ups. They explain to Mitch that this is not true. There is an example of dramatic irony in this book. As a reader I know that this stuff is true because there have been scenes proving it true. Mitch looks very naive to me because I know this. Grisham does a very good job chapter to chapter in this book. He will say something at the end that makes you want to read more into the next chapter. My reaction to the portion that I read this week could be described as disgusted. Respond to passage from LOTF pg 143

On page 143, Simon is talked to by the Lord of the Flies. The lord of the flies is really just a dead pig head. It is very debatable whether this is a hallucination on Simon's part or real. I believe that it is real in this story because it is symbolism of Simon as a Jesus-like figure. The lord of the flies says stuff like,"I'm warning you, I'm going to get angry." He has a bad temper and is very symbolic of Satan tempting Jesus. Another thing he says is "I'm the reason why it's no go." This shows that the beast has been interacting in the island all along. This gives us a lot of insight to Jack and the others' motives. This shows us that Satan may be acting on their behalf. Even if this is a hallucination, it is still very important to the story.
