Learning Reflection

This year I have learned that I am a lot better of a learner when I take thorough notes. It really nails the information into my brain. It helps me remember the things that I learn better. Something that also helps when I am taking notes is if I have a visual there also. I have a pretty good photographic memory, and this helps tremendously.

This next quarter, I will make sure to keep taking thorough notes. I will also try to pay good attention to power point presentations in class, because that is where the visuals are. I will make sure to have my notes organized in a way that when I go back to read them to study, they will be most helpful. I think i have done pretty well in English this year, and I will continue to do so. I will try to mostly keep my habits the same.

    I also feel that I have gotten better at taking notes since I came into high school. Your method of taking notes seems to be a good way to do so, and great post.

Reading Response to The Firm

I have covered a lot of new information in The Firm.  Mitch has started working and works 100 hour weeks! He has passed the bar exam with the highest score. He seems to be doing extremely well at the firm, but then something strange happens. While he is eating lunch by himself, an FBI agent approaches him and tells him some veery strange stuff about the firm. He reports this to Lamar Quin and Lamar reports it to the higher ups. They explain to Mitch that this is not true. There is an example of dramatic irony in this book. As a reader I know that this stuff is true because there have been scenes proving it true. Mitch looks very naive to me because I know this. Grisham does a very good job chapter to chapter in this book. He will say something at the end that makes you want to read more into the next chapter. My reaction to the portion that I read this week could be described as disgusted. Respond to passage from LOTF pg 143

On page 143, Simon is talked to by the Lord of the Flies. The lord of the flies is really just a dead pig head. It is very debatable whether this is a hallucination on Simon's part or real. I believe that it is real in this story because it is symbolism of Simon as a Jesus-like figure. The lord of the flies says stuff like,"I'm warning you, I'm going to get angry." He has a bad temper and is very symbolic of Satan tempting Jesus. Another thing he says is "I'm the reason why it's no go." This shows that the beast has been interacting in the island all along. This gives us a lot of insight to Jack and the others' motives. This shows us that Satan may be acting on their behalf. Even if this is a hallucination, it is still very important to the story.
